Online voting is underway as the Urban League of Greater Madison is looking to reach out to the community for their vote in Thrivent Financial’s “Carols for a Cause” which looks to bless organizations that are impacting their community. Voting is open until Dec. 9 and votes for the Urban League of Greater Madison – “Joy to the World” can help the organization win a first-place prize of $15,000.

Thrivent has selected five non-profits and each gets a carol. The non-profits will receive $5,000 to $15,000 from the Thrivent Member Network depending on how many votes they get. The other four organizations that were nominated include: Feed My People Food Bank in Eau Claire, Habitat for Humanity of the Greater La Crosse Region, Milwaukee Habitat for Humanity, and 89Q Christian Radio Station in Wausau.

Support for the Urban League gives the organization greater capacity for community education, work development, and empowerment.

An event like the upcoming Student Loan Forgiveness Workshop in collaboration with Savi is just one example of the important opportunities Urban League offers for economic aid and development. Offering expert guidance and insight into best options and management skills around student loan repayment and forgiveness, anyone intimidated by the weight of student loans on their economic situation will surely benefit from attending. Registration for the event is open and will also provide access to a link to watch a session recording.
