A video featuring Opal Tomashevska’s spoken word piece to announce and promote the 2019 Wisconsin Leadership Summit was honored with a Web Audio Visual Excellence (WAVE) Award from Madison Media Professionals on Wednesday.
The video features Tomashevska reciting her piece “Come and Meet Your People” on the Capitol Theater stage at Overture Center for the Arts, the site of this year’s Wisconsin Leadership Summit. The Summit is organized and hosted by 365 Media, the parent company of Madison365.
“This award means a lot. It always feels good to be recognized by your peers,” said Nate Chappell, who directed and edited the video. “Opal wrote a powerful piece, and I’m just glad we could do it justice.”
The video was shot by Jordan Biagomala and featured photos by Hedi Lamarr Rudd.
Chappell’s production company, Wolfout Productions, has produced many videos for Madison365, including Real Talk with Henry Sanders.
