Wisconsin’s positive test rate jumps to highest-ever 16 percent; 7-day average now 10

Wisconsin confirmed 893 new coronavirus cases Sunday in just over 5,500 tests, making the positive test rate of 16.2 percent. That puts Wisconsin’s positive test rate for the past seven days at 10 percent, and the 14-day rate at 9.35 percent.

Today is the third consecutive day over 11 percent.

The Wisconsin Department of Health Services now reports the total number of cases since the pandemic began is 81,193, of which just over 7,900 are considered active, about the same as yesterday.

No new deaths were reported today.

Today’s data brings the seven-day average of new cases to 837 and the 14-day average to 795.

Wisconsin has averaged seven deaths per day over the past week and 6.7 per day over the past two weeks.

The highest local new case count came in Dane County, with 157 new cases and 4.25 percent of tests coming back positive. More than half of Dane County’s new cases today and Saturday are University of Wisconsin students and staff.

Jefferson County: 11 new cases, 10.09 percent positive tests
Kenosha County: 13 new cases, 86.67 percent positive tests
La Crosse County: 14 new cases, 6.97 percent positive tests
Manitowoc County: 16 new cases, 51.61 percent positive tests
Marathon County: 10 new cases, 23.26 percent positive tests
Milwaukee County: 93 new cases, 12.22 percent positive tests
Outagamie County: 55 new cases, 50.46 percent positive tests
Ozaukee County: 13 new cases, 86.67 percent positive tests
Portage County: 36 new cases, 97.3 percent positive tests
Rock County: 36 new cases, 55.38 percent positive tests
Sheboygan County: 14 new cases, 87.5 percent positive tests
Walworth County: 20 new cases, 19.42 percent positive tests
Washington County: 13 new cases, 86.67 percent positive tests
Waukesha County: 31 new cases, 18.9 percent positive tests
Waupaca County: 12 new cases, 100 percent positive tests
Winnebago County: 32 new cases, 13.62 percent positive tests

Hospitalizations rose slightly to 275 currently hospitalized at the time of this reporting with COVID 19, 27 fewer that Saturday more than Friday and seven more than a week ago. Of those, 95 are in ICUs, 21 fewer than Saturday.
