The Sessions at McPike Park, a popular summertime concert series featuring musicians from all over the world and benefitting a variety of Madison-area non-profits, has announced its musical line-up for 2024. The first of two annual family-friendly events on Madison’s Near East Side is slated for Friday-Sunday, June 14-16 at McPike Park.
There are two separate weekends of concerts for the Sessions at McPike Park in June and August which will raise funds for local non-profits. The upcoming “The Pursuit of Happiness” sessions will kick off on Friday, June 14, and will be a benefit for Friends of Ukraine-Madison.
Touring bands Shamarr Allen and The Underdawgs from New Orleans and Chuck Prophet and The Mission Express from San Francisco will be featured on the main stage on Friday, June 14.
There will be a full day of music on Saturday, June 15 with funds raised benefitting Dane Arts and Centro Hispano. On the main stage will be Christian and Modesto Nieves- Maldonado (Puerto Rico); Mark Croft and Jon Vriesacker; Grupo Rebulu; Fable Dance Company (Milwaukee); Paul Cebar Tomorrow Sound; Francisco Medrano Black Power Dance; Ameri-kana All-Stars featuring Alea with sidemen from Puerto Rico, Colombia, Panama, and Mexico.
The Pursuit of Happiness Great Lawn Sunday on June 16th will raise funds for WORT-FM and will feature the Black Star Drum Line; Clamor and Lace! Noise Brigade (Chicago); Forward! Marching Band; Mama Dig Downs Brass Band and The Stooges Brass Band (NOLA)
