Baldeh wins 48th Assembly primary
Samba Baldeh

Former Madison Common Council president Samba Baldeh will win the Democratic primary for the 48th Assembly District, Madison365 projects.

With 84 percent of the vote counted, Baldeh had garnered a lead of 59.4 percent to Lindsey Lemer’s 35.3 percent. He will face Republican Samuel Anderson in November.

The 48th District encompasses much of Madison’s east and north sides. The seat is being vacated by Melissa Sargent, who has won the Democratic Primary to succeed Mark Miller in the State Senate.

If he wins in November, he would become the first Black man to represent any part of Dane County in the state legislature.
