The state of Wisconsin reported just over 5,100 new coronavirus tests on Monday, of which 1,083 were positive, for a positive test rate of about 21 percent. With testing remaining lower than in previous weeks, the seven-day average of new cases per day rose slightly to 1,957.
The state of Wisconsin reported 19 COVID deaths on Saturday, bringing the total death toll to 5,470. Since March, an additional 161 people have tested positive for COVID but died of other causes. The seven-day average of reported deaths has risen to 44, but the 30-day average has fallen to 39.
The seven-day positive rate for all people tested, which would be less subject day to day fluctuations in testing, continued a sharp decline, falling from 24.9 to 24.6 percent, while the positive rate for all tests fell from 8.0 to 7.8 percent, the lowest since the state has begun regularly reporting that rate several months ago.
The state also reports Thursday that 35,924 Wisconsin residents have completed the COVID-19 vaccination series, about 5,000 since Friday. In all, 239,102 vaccine doses have been administered.
The number of people hospitalized ticked up slightly in the midst of a steep decline, increasing by 22 to 875. Of those, 209 are in ICUs, two more than Sunday.
The estimated number of active cases — diagnosed in the past 30 days — fell slightly to 25,000, about 4.84 percent of the 522,877 total cases confirmed in Wisconsin.
