Wisconsin’s wrestling team posted its first shutout win in over ten years over the weekend.
The Badgers posted a commanding 41-0 victory over Hofstra, marking their first full team sweep since the 2015-16 season.
Freshman Carson Exferd earned a 4-0 decision at 141 to give the Badgers an early edge.
Senior Joseph Zargo followed with another dominant effort, earning his second tech fall of the weekend with a 21-5 victory.
The middle of Wisconsin’s lineup continued to pile on the points as Freshman Wyatt Ingham, Senior Luke Mechler, and Senior Cale Anderson each delivered decisions to extend Wisconsin’s lead.
Junior Braxton Amos kept the run going in the upper weights, picking up his fourth fall of the season with a quick pin in under 90 seconds.
Rounding out the dual in the lightweights, Junior Nicolar Rivera and Sophomore Zan Fugitt closed the day with identical 16-1 tech fall victories, putting the final exclamation point on Wisconsin’s sweep.
The Badgers return to the UW Field House for a doubleheader on December 18 against Lock Haven at 5 p.m. and Utah Valley at 7 p.m.
