Coronavirus testing and cases continue to decline; 19 more deaths reported

The state of Wisconsin reported 19 COVID deaths on Monday — five in Marathon County alone — bringing the state’s total death toll to 3,738. An additional 75 people have tested positive for COVID but died of other causes. The seven-day daily death average increased to 60.7 — the first time it has exceeded 60 — while the 14-day average rose to 52.

Meanwhile the state reported 2,155 new coronavirus cases on just 7,906 tests, for a daily positive test rate of about 27.26 percent.

Still, the seven-day positive rate for all people tested slipped from 31.1 percent to 30.7, and the positive rate for all tests dropped to 12.7. The number of active cases continued its steady decline and is now just over 58,000 — about 14 percent of the 414,332 total cases the state has confirmed to date.

The seven-day average of new cases per day fell to 3,837.
