One of the Dallas police officers injured Thursday night in an attack on police is from Wisconsin.
Friends and family have posted on social media that Gretchen Rocha, 23, from Fox Lake is in the hospital, but is expected to be OK. She was released from the hospital Friday morning.
Rocha’s mother, Diane Bayer, told News 3 Rocha was injured by shrapnel and is expected to recover, but is dealing with the emotion trauma of the situation.
Bayer said Rocha has 10-month old baby.
She studied at Madison College to be a law enforcement officer, got an associates degree in criminal justice and moved to Dallas to join the force about a month ago. She was recently welcomed into the Greater Dallas Chapter of the National Latino Law Enforcement Organization.
