A Florida teen has been suspended from school after he posted an ad on Craigslist titled “Two slaves for sale- $470,” accompanied by a photo of two Black female classmates sitting at their desks.

The students attended Fleming Island High School in the unincorporated town of Fleming Island.

The post was tagged to be located in Fleming Island Plantation, which is a neighborhood within the town, but geographical tag had an obvious implication.

The caption of the photo read: “Two healthy Nero slavegals for sale. Good condition and hard work ethic! If you need mother pair of hands around the farm/house, you’re in luck!

The sister of one of the students photographed posted the ad, which has since been removed, on her Twitter account.

“This is NOT OKAY AT ALL!!!,” her tweet read.

The Addison Davis, the school superintendent, provided a statement to WPLG Local 10 stating, “we do not tolerate this type of behavior, and we are disheartened that and of our students would be subject to discrimination.

The student, a high school senior, who made post received a punishment of a 10-day suspension and will be transferred to an alternative school, according to First Coast News.
