With 87 percent of votes counted, Democratic Representative Jimmy Anderson had a commanding 79-21 percent lead over Republican challenger Lamonte Newsome.
Anderson, 36, earns a fourth term in the state legislature, where he is the first Latino elected from Dane County.
Several other incumbents who are people of color in Dane County ran unopposed, including Samba Baldeh, Francesca Hong and Shelia Stubbs.
