To kick off moving into the next year, Lakeview Library and Willy Street Co-op will be partnering to bring a series of food prep and cooking demonstrations by Chef Paul. There will be a demonstration on Plant-Based Meals in January, Fried Rice for Dinner in February, and close with Spring Rolls in March.

Paul Tseng (Chef Paul) grew up surrounded by fresh ingredients in Taiwan, and truly came to appreciate Taiwanese and Chinese cuisine during his time developing a love for cooking in culinary school while in Chicago. After a career in several kitchens, Chef Paul found another passion in teaching and that passion is sure to extend in-person over these three events.

“Cooking and sharing what I have learned is my passion,” Chef Paul said on teaching about cooking. “Teaching a cooking class gives me a chance to share my knowledge about the differences and uniquenesses of foods that people overlook. I want to show people how to be respectful, creative, and economical about food. To feel delighted when they learn an easy cooking technique using just a couple of simple fresh ingredients. The food is the real star, we are just the facilitators.”

Plant-Based Meals will go over what to know and how to prepare when cooking without meat or animal products, and the Fried Rice for Dinner demonstration will have Chef Paul giving a class on how to turn leftover rice into a new meal idea covering ingredient selection, cooking, and tasting into the complete process. The March Spring Rolls class will be perfect to kick off spring as Chef Paul demonstrates how to make the perfect spring rolls to capture the essence of spring produce harvest.

Registration is necessary for each demonstration and is currently open for the first January 11 date. More information and registration can be found on the Madison Public Library website here
