Lt. Governor candidate Mandela Barnes of Milwaukee was not involved in a motorcycle accident and is alive and well, his campaign wants you to know.
In what Barnes campaign manager Justin Bielinski calls “an unfortunate bit of editing” during a newscast on Milwaukee’s CBS affiliate Monday, Barnes’ photo was displayed but not identified on screen during a report of a fatal accident, which could lead a viewer to believe Barnes was the victim of the accident.
The snafu comes the same day that Barnes’ name was left off the election notices in at least three newspapers in the state.
While the campaign had legitimate concerns about being left out of election notices, a minor error in a newscast isn’t likely to make an impact in Tuesday’s primary, where Barnes faces Sheboygan businessman Kurt Kober.
