The winter storm that has been headed toward southern Wisconsin through Saturday has arrived and due to a winter storm warning and hazardous travel conditions, the Madison School District is canceling all evening activities on Friday taking place after 6 p.m. and all activities on Saturday. This includes MSCR, athletics and all other activities taking place after 6 p.m. Friday and all day Saturday.

According to Channel3000.com, News 3 Meteorologist Bob Lesh said the storm headed northwest from central Illinois puts Wisconsin in a favorable spot for heavy snow. He added that the bulk of the accumulating snow will continue overnight. A break in the precipitation is expected Saturday morning, with snow returning to the area Saturday afternoon and evening.

Snowfall totals will range from 5-10 inches, with the highest amounts falling north and northeast of Dane County.
