All Madison schools will be closed Tuesday, January 29 due to extreme cold temperatures, the district announced Monday evening. All school buildings will be closed for the entire day and evening. Madison School Community Recreation, athletics and other evening activities will also be canceled for Tuesday.
The district considers closing when temperatures below -25 degrees wind chill are forecasted, and those temperatures are forecasted starting tomorrow afternoon and continuing through the time that children would be transported home.
The district will also continue monitoring the cold temperatures on Wednesday and Thursday and will communicate decisions as early as possible.
No other schools in Dane County had announced closures as of 7:20 pm Monday.
