Madison365’s fifth grade girls basketball team finished an unbeaten run of 10 games through the Middleton 3-on-3 summer league yesterday.

“This is the first time they’ve ever played together,” said coach Henry Sanders, a former Madison East and UW-Whitewater standout who is also CEO of 365 Media Foundation, the organization that publishes Madison365. “They learned quickly and they played as a team. They played the right way, meaning they played to be competitive, but they all played respectful of their opponents. I really respected how hard they really focused on competing the right way but also treating people the right way.”

The summer league was Madison365’s first foray into competitive sports sponsorship. The six players were plucked from DeForest, Waunakee and Madison. An expanded lineup of nine will compete in full-sided Amateur Athletics Union tournaments in July and August.

Asked whether Madison365 will expand its sporting sponsorships, Sanders said, “That’s a legit question. I’m not against it.”
