A GoFundMe account started for a 24-year-old Ohio mother after she was arrested for leaving her children alone in a hotel so she could go to work has raised more than $165,000.
Police arrested Shaina Bell of Liberty Township, Ohio, at a Little Caesars fast food restaurant where she works last week because she left two daughters, 10 and 2, alone in a Motel 6 room where they live. Bell was released the next day but found herself in the need of immediate housing.
“I had to go to work. My daughter decided that she wanted to stay here,” Bell told WKBN. “I felt that she was old enough to be able to stay here with her sister for a few hours because my job is right down the street.”
The GoFundMe page set up by Bell to help her find permanent housing and other financial support had an original goal of raising $5,000. It is now over $165,000.
“My kids bring me joy. They make me laugh. They’re my world,” Bell said to WKBN. I would never do anything to harm my kids. My kids are everything to me. That’s all I do is go to work and take care of my kids. That’s all I do.”
