More people are currently hospitalized due to COVID-19 than ever before — 474 — and eight more have died as the effects of the recent spike in coronavirus spread begin to be felt in Wisconsin.

The state  confirmed 1,682 new coronavirus cases Tuesday on just over 12,500 tests, for a positive test rate of 13.3 percent, considerably lower than yesterday’s 18.7 percent. Those results bring the total case count to 104.170, of which over 14,700 are considered active, about 300 more than Monday.

Today is the 18th day of the past 19 that the positive test rate has been over 10 percent.
