Positive test rates hold steady as state reports 946 new COVID cases

The state of Wisconsin reported just 4,199 new coronavirus tests on Monday, of which 946 were positive, for a positive test rate of about 22.6 percent, higher than yesterday’s 17 percent. The seven-day average of new cases per day rose slightly to 1,682.

The state of Wisconsin also reported eight COVID deaths on Saturday, bringing the total death toll to 5,699. Since March, an additional 161 people have tested positive for COVID but died of other causes. The seven-day average of reported deaths rose to 34.3.

The seven-day positive rate for all people tested, which would be less subject day to day fluctuations in testing, held steady at 20.6, while the positive rate for all tests stayed at 6.1.

The state also reported Friday that 64,364 Wisconsin residents have completed the COVID-19 vaccination series. In all, 339,858 vaccine doses have been administered.

The estimated number of active cases — diagnosed in the past 30 days — fell slightly to just under 22,041, about 4.1 percent of the 533,888 total cases confirmed in Wisconsin.
