Saran Ouk has been named the City of Madison’s next Office of Business Resources Manager.

Ouk is the founder and CEO of conNEXTions, a Madison-based non-profit that helps young adults learn financial literacy, and has over a decade of experience working in the local credit union industry, with numerous years in a management role.

“The City has an opportunity to build back to a better, more equitable and inclusive economy,” said Mayor Satya Rhodes-Conway in a statement. “Saran will play a key role in guiding this very important work.”

After previously serving as an AASPIRE intern with the City of Madison, Ouk joined the City full-time as a Contract Compliance Specialist in 2019, where she improved the management process for development contract satisfaction of Department of Civil Rights requirements.

“With a combination of private sector management experience, the launching of her own business, and deep ties throughout the Madison community, Ms. Ouk is well-positioned to lead the Office of Business Resources,” said Matthew Mikolajewski, Economic Development Director, in a statement.

Over the next several years, Ouk will help guide the City’s post-COVID recovery efforts, according to a press release from the City, which will include continued work on the City’s Small Business Equity and Recovery (SBER) Program, which looks to support businesses during the immediate COVID crisis, while also considering the future re-building of our most negatively impacted business sectors.

Ouk’s official starting date with the Office of Business Resources will be Monday, March 8.
