Dear Madison and the entire Dane County community,
I would like to take this time to thank each and every person who reached out via phone calls, emails, text messages, cards, visits and especially with prayers. The amount of support that you’ve shown me and my family during this traumatic time has been overwhelming and very much appreciated. In time, I will be able to follow up with thank-you cards personally. My heart is broken and I don’t have any idea on when or how our family will ever get to a place where the pain from the loss of my husband, Michael Johnson, doesn’t feel as sharp.
The indelible mark that Mike has left not only in this community, but in every part of the country where he’s served, will endure for generations. His legacy will forever be present and serve as a light that will continue to shine even through life’s darkest moments. Thank you for opening your hearts and generously giving of your time, talent and treasure in support of the work Mike carried out as the leader of Boys and Girls Club of Dane County (BGCDC) selflessly, tirelessly, and without complaint or hesitation. The Boys and Girls Club of Dane County’s Board of Directors, BGCDC staff, and this community’s support allowed him to serve his purpose and we are forever grateful and will always have immense love for this community.
I would also like to extend my sincere gratitude to the news stations, newspapers, local magazines, and media outlets that faithfully shared the incredible work taking place at the Boys & Girls Club throughout Mike’s tenure. The relationships he built with each of you were genuine and meaningful, and the respect and admiration he had for you were immeasurable. Thank you for helping tell the stories of hope, opportunity, and transformation that meant so much to him and to the countless young people and families whose lives were impacted by his leadership.
With sincere love and appreciation,
Toya Johnson & family
