In response to the extreme cold, UW–Madison is canceling classes, events and campus activities beginning at 5 p.m. Tuesday through noon Thursday, the University announced in a press release Tuesday morning.
During this period, only essential campus services will be operating.
Essential functions generally include, but are not limited to, University Housing and Dining, life/safety, essential research and animal care, and Physical Plant.
Non-essential employees are directed not to report to limit exposure to the extreme cold. Additional information will be provided to employees throughout Tuesday.
The National Weather Service is forecasting extremely low temperatures, with a wind chill warning beginning Tuesday at 6 p.m. until noon Thursday.
