VERONA, Wis. — The Verona Area School District has chosen its next superintendent.

“I speak for everyone on the Board when I say that we are beyond thrilled to have found someone that we know has what it takes to move the district forward and take us to the next level in serving our students,” said Noah Roberts, Board president. “Dr. Clardy brings the integrity, vision, and the leadership experience VASD needs as we continue to work toward our collective goals of eliminating disparities, building a strong community, and ensuring all students have the opportunities and support to succeed at VASD and beyond.”

Clardy has 22 years of experience in K-12 education. In addition to his time at MMSD, he has also taught in Janesville and Beloit.

“I am truly honored to become the next Superintendent of the Verona Area School District,” Clardy said. “Under the leadership of Dr. Gorrell and the Board of Education there is a clear blueprint for success to achieve our mission that ‘Every Student MUST Be Successful.’ I thank them for their leadership and look forward to working alongside Dr. Gorrell through the transition.”

Clardy said he intends to “listen and learn about the experiences people have had within the District” to determine his leadership decisions.

“I want to make sure that multiple voices from across multiple demographics and boundaries have an equitable voice,” Clardy said.

He has an EdD and MA from Aurora University, along with an MS and BS in Education from the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater.

Clardy’s first day in the new role will begin July 1.
