Wisconsin coronavirus cases approach 1,800; 33 dead

Wisconsin now has 1,785 confirmed cases of coronavirus infection and 33 have died, according to state and county data. The state Department of Health Services reports 461 people have been hospitalized.

Dane County has now administered 4,552 tests, 234 have come back positive. Three people have died in Dane County. In Milwaukee County, 918 people have tested positive and 18 have died.

Data provided by Public Health Madison & Dane County indicate that 77 percent of those tested positive are white, almost five percent are Black and four percent are Asian. Additionally, seven and a half percent identify as Latino.

That’s a contrast to Milwaukee County, where nearly half of those tested positive are Black and only 24 percent are white. Race is not reported in another 23 percent of Milwaukee County cases.
