Dane Dances

Dane Dances! will be coming back to the Monona Terrace Community and Convention Center rooftop on Fridays in August for its 22nd season after being postponed last year due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Dane Dances is a nonprofit community organization conceived in 1999 out of the recommendations of the Mayor’s Taskforce on Race Relations by Madisonians who wanted to break down ethnic and racial divides and allow people the space to have fun and enjoy themselves outside of the social issues surrounding the community.

Dane Dances! 2021 “A Season of Love & Happiness” will kick off Friday, Aug. 6 with Orquesta Mas-Madison All-Stars and Sons of Chicago. DJ Pain will open and perform in between.

On Friday, Aug. 13, Dane Dances will feature the Eddie Butts Band and Orquesta Salsoul Del Mad with DJ ACE.  On Friday, Aug. 20, Dane Dances will feature VO5 and Antone’s Tribute to Barry White with DJ Chamo. On Friday, Aug. 27, Dane Dances will feature Sounds of Slave R&B Band and Public Announcement with DJ Ace.

The event is held every Friday in August (rain or shine) from 5:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m on the Monona Terrace Community and Convention Center Rooftop.  The rain location for Aug. 6, 20, and 27 will be indoors at Monona Terrace.
