It’s now official. Christian Yelich, the 2018 NL MVP and two-time reigning NL batting champion, has agreed to a 9-year contract through the 2028 season with a mutual option for 2029, the Milwaukee Brewers have announced today.
“Christian is everything you could want as the face of a franchise – from his incredible performance on the field, to his leadership as a teammate, to his dedication to the community,” said Brewers Chairman and Principal Owner Mark Attanasio in a statement. “This is an exciting day for everyone connected to the organization as we continue our commitment to be a highly competitive franchise and a place that players want to call home.”

Yelich, 28, is a career .301/.383/.492 hitter with 139 HR, 500 RBI and 124 stolen bases in 920 games with Miami (2013-17) and Milwaukee (2018-19). As a Brewer, he is a career .327/.415/.631 hitter with 80 HR, 207 RBI and 52 stolen bases in 277 games, leading the team to the postseason in both years with the organization.
