The Madison College Bookstore is hosting the Madison College Marketplace vendor event on Thursday, April 18, as it looks to increase diversity by partnering with local entrepreneurs of color, women, veterans, and LGBT+ businesses to feature new products at its bookstore.

The event will be held in the Café Mall at the Truax campus, 1701 Wright St. on Madison East Side, and will showcase products to gauge what appeals to the greater community and build relationships with these businesses. Chef Thony “Mango Man” Clarke, owner of Mango Man Cooks, Nathaniel Sackey of Taste of Africa, and Lilada Gee of Inspired by Lilada will showcase their products at the event.

Madison College is looking for this marketplace event to help them improve awareness of diversity and inclusion in the bookstore, promote diverse products to consumers and bring fresh ideas that can appeal to other demographics. Some of these vendors’ products will be featured at the Madison College bookstore, according to a press release from Madison College, to attract new customers and create a sense of belonging and representation of its diverse student population.

The marketplace will be held from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. on Thursday.
