Singers in this class will select and study a piece with expert guidance from MYC instructors and perform in an informal recital at the end of our time together (either solo or with another singer if that’s more comfortable for you).

Class meets July 8-18, 6:30-8:PM, Monday – Thursday (no class Friday, Saturday, or Sunday). Final hour of class on July 18 will feature an informal recital open to families and friends.

MYC Summer Choir | For rising 6th graders – rising 9th graders  • $210

MYC is excited to offer a magical two weeks of summer choir! Currently singing with MYC? Join us! New to MYC? Join us!

We’ll spend two weeks together creating a brand-new ensemble and learning music we can share in an informal concert for family and friends on our last evening. No audition – just bring a desire to sing, learn, and grow together! Singers will work with multiple MYC conductors as well as young adults enrolled in our Future Educators Workshop.

Class meets July 15-25, 6:30-8:PM, Monday – Thursday (no class Friday, Saturday, or Sunday). Final hour of class on July 25 will feature an informal concert open to families and friends.

Music Theory |For rising 9th graders through graduated seniors in high school  • $210

Let’s refine our knowledge of musical “building blocks” together! Are you a high school musician who wants to supercharge your knowledge about musical notation, chords, and sight-reading skills? This class is for you! Topics explored include basic notation (rhythm, pitch) and dictation (you listen, you write it down), basic chord analysis, scales and modes, sight-singing, and composition.

Class meets July 15-25, 6:30-8:PM, Monday – Thursday (no class Friday, Saturday, or Sunday)

Future Educators Workshop | For rising 11th graders through college seniors  • $420

Are you currently studying education (music or otherwise) or considering studying it in college? This summer, join MYC’s 2024 future educators cohort! This short but intense experience is for anyone thinking about or currently studying music education or another area in education.

During our two-week class, you’ll explore and learn about the MYC framework for planning rehearsals using the CMP (Comprehensive Musicianship through Performance) model, apply that to your current or future studies, and work with a summer MYC choir, helping plan and lead rehearsals. Our time will culminate in an informal concert for parents and friends.

Class meets July 15-25, 5:00-8:30PM, Monday – Thursday (no class Friday, Saturday, or Sunday). Final hour of class on July 25 will feature an informal concert open to families and friends.
