Wisconsin approaches 3,000 COVID19 cases; 114 dead

Wisconsin now has 2,964 cases of coronavirus infection and 114 have died, according to state and county data.

Dane County reports 305 cases and 11 deaths. Milwaukee County reports 1,560 cases and 68 fatalities.

About 10 percent of deaths are in Dane County, while 60 percent of deaths are in Milwaukee County — which is home to only 16 percent of the state’s population.

Black people account for 27 percent of positive cases and 49 percent of deaths in Wisconsin, despite making up only about six percent of the state’s overall population.

Additionally, people who identify as Latino make up about 10 percent of positive cases.

The state reports that 843 people, about 29 percent, have been hospitalized — 230 in intensive care units. Another 1,468 people were tested positive but not hospitalized, and in another 574 cases it is not known whether the patient was hospitalized.
