Abha Thakkar to host panel of women of color in the arts

We are pleased to announced that Abha Thakkar will host and moderate a panel of artists called “Celebrating the Intersections of Women of Color and the Arts” at the Women’s Leadership Summit on Monday, June 20.

The second annual Summit will take place June 20 – July 1, with one session at noon each day streamed on Facebook Live. It is free and open to the public.

Abha Thakkar is the owner of Mosaic LLC (mosaicmadison.com), a consulting firm that supports nonprofits, collective impact initiatives, and local governments in organizational systems development, facilitation and coaching through an antiracist lens.  Abha has spent the last 20+ years as a community organizer, nonprofit administrator, trainer and convener of systems-level work. She brings with her a unique combination of skills and experience, including grassroots leadership development, collective action, non-extractive public engagement, food systems resilience, community journalism, solidarity economics, restorative justice, and nonprofit operations, including fiscal management and policy and process development.
Mosaic’s portfolio includes multiple cross-sector collaborations which have fostered extensive networks of relationships among diverse leaders throughout the region. Abha is a recipient of the Social Justice Center’s Visionary Award, currently serves on the Dane County Food Council and is participating in the Community of Learning and Practice on Racial Equity and Economic Justice for Food Policy Councils at Johns Hopkins University.
Abha was born in India into a family of revolutionary leaders and community organizers who resisted British colonizers on two continents. She graduated from the University of Wisconsin, has an 11-year old daughter and has traveled to over 60 countries, doing work in many of them to support the social-emotional and educational needs of vulnerable children.
