
Alder Julia Arata-Fratta will be Fitchburg’s next mayor.
Arata-Fratta defeated common council president Randy Udell with 54 percent of the vote. Incumbent Aaron Richardson did not run for another term.
Arata-Fratta moved to Fitchburg in 2004 and has served on the council for the past eight years.
In a November interview, Arata-Fratta said one of her priorities would be to reduce disparities in services for different neighborhoods, and improving transit and access between different parts of the city.
Arata-Fratta graduated from Universidad Nacional de Córdoba in Argentina in 1991 with a degree in business administration, and earned an MBA from Kennesaw State in 1998.
